About

I

I’m Robert Gordon, a coach specializing in providing support, tools, and education for adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Most of my work is with professionals, academics, and students. I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 33, though I’ve had the condition all my life. I was a smart kid, so I didn’t struggle much in in elementary school, but in Grade 7 I moved to an enriched-academic school, and I began to struggle. The last couple of years of high school nearly killed me, and the first couple of years of university were, shall we say, not distinguished.

I found my way into corporate training and then teaching — like many ADHDers, I’m good on my feet and I present many of my best ideas when I speak them out loud. As a teacher, I worked closely with a number of senior students with ADHD, and I worried a great deal about how they would fare at college or university, without the daily support and accountability that high school provides. Having worked with a great coach myself, I knew what a powerful coaching partnership was capable of — she had helped me redirect my life in only the most positive ways. And while I loved my work in the classroom, the dark side of my ADHD loomed after school - I procrastinated endlessly with my marking and my planning. Coaching was a natural move.
